Pediatric Care in Schools

Cool Spring Physical Therapy, Inc. provides short and long-term contractual physical therapy services in public and private schools. Through our partnership with Berryville Physical Therapy and Wellness, we also provide outpatient pediatric physical therapy services. Our staff of excellent pediatric therapists stands ready to meet the physical therapy needs of children with special needs.

Edie Buchan-Hanscom, PT, DPT

Co-owner/Founder

Edie is a board-certified pediatric specialist, is NDT Certified in children and infants, and is the founder of Cool Spring Physical Therapy. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware, BA, biology, and University of Pennsylvania, certificate in PT, has a Masters Degree in Special Education from George Mason University, and Doctorate of Physical Therapy with Pediatric Specialty from Rocky Mountain University. She began practicing in 1966 in Cleveland, OH, and since then has practiced in Alabama, Oklahoma, Washington State, Maryland, and Germany. Treating children has been and continues to be her passion.


Debra Barbieri, PT, MSPT

Deb has focused on pediatrics for 25 years, working in multiple pediatric settings including infant stimulation, preschool and school-age settings in Texas, California, Colorado, West Virginia, and Virginia. She is a graduate of Texas Women’s University with a Masters’ Degree in Physical Therapy. Deb has taken many continuing education courses to use an evidence-based approach in treating children.


Linda Nicewarner, L.P.T.A

Physical Therapist

Linda has vast experience in the pediatric field as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. Being the mother of a special needs son gives Linda a valuable and unique perspective. She has been delivering creative care for students with Cool Spring Physical Therapy since 1993. She is a graduate of Northern Virginia Community College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science and began practicing in the pediatric setting upon graduation.
