Leslie Williams, PT, DPT

Owner/Co-Founder

Leslie received her Physical Therapy degree with honors from the University of Delaware in 1989; in 2010 she completed her doctorate degree from Shenandoah University. Before starting her own practice, Leslie worked at Loudoun Hospital for 20 years in outpatient post-acute rehab and inpatient acute care. She is a well rounded orthopedic generalist, highly focused in assisting patients recovering from illness, injury, or functional limitations by treating them with respect, compassion, and the highest level of evidence based clinical skills. Her approach to patient care starts with completing a thorough evaluation, and then partnering with her patients to set achievable goals and develop a treatment plan that comprehensively addresses the identified problems. Leslie’s vision is to build a business that enriches people’s lives by helping them achieve their functional goals, and enhances the community by encouraging healthy living. Leslie lives in Berryville with her husband and the youngest of their four children.

Sara Davis, MS, MPH, PTA, CSCS

Co-Founder/Physical Therapist Assistant/Nutritionist

Sara entered the health and fitness industry in 1993 as an avenue to working with the geriatric population with whom she has always had a great affinity. After completing a dual degree in Biology and Psychology she obtained her Physical Therapist Assistant degree and then her Masters in Public Health and Masters in Science in nutrition. Sara is an Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner, a Certified Health Coach, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Her interests span from working with youth in the prevention of sport injuries or sports optimization through nutrition to helping seniors overcome physical limitations or chronic disease through diet and lifestyle changes. Her goal is to provide compassionate and evidence-based care, encouraging and educating people of all ages into healthy lifestyles through optimal personalized nutrition and increased physical fitness. Sara lives in Berryville with her husband and five children. She enjoys traveling, running, gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Amy Sowers, PT

Physical Therapist

A true Clarke County native, Amy graduated from Clarke County High School in 1985 and received her degree in Physical Therapy in 1989 from Medical College of Virginia. During her career, she has worked with numerous populations in a variety of settings including: nine years in acute care and outpatient ortho/neuro with Winchester Medical Center, four years of home health care, and over 16 years of outpatient orthopedics. Amy brings a vast knowledge of advanced manual therapy skills to Berryville PT, having completed all of Richard Jackson’s nationally recognized courses. In addition to manual therapy and treating sacroiliac joint dysfunction (including pregnancy induced), Amy’s areas of interest include optimizing mobility and minimizing pain through the resolution of biomechanical dysfunction. Amy lives in Frederick County with her husband and the youngest of her 4 children. She enjoys reading, being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and homeschooling.

Christina Rose, MPT

Physical Therapist

Christina graduated summa cum laude from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2001 with a master's degree in Physical Therapy. After graduation, she and her husband moved to Northern Virginia and she has been working here ever since for over 20 years. Christina started her career in a skilled nursing facility later moving into acute care and hospital outpatient setting allowing her to experience the full continuum of Physical Therapy care. She has spent the majority of her career working in an outpatient orthopedic setting. Christina specializes in back and neck pain, sport injuries, Kinesio-taping, and manual techniques including muscle energy techniques to correct sacroiliac joint, spinal and rib dysfunction. She has training in analyzing clients' running mechanics. She enjoys working with all clients from youth sport injuries, post-surgical, chronic pain to fall risk reduction in the geriatric population. Her treatment approach is to look at the whole picture starting at evaluation and providing a full comprehensive treatment approach including manual techniques, exercise and education to achieve the client's goals. Christina lives in Bluemont with her husband and two sons. She enjoys cooking, going to the beach and watching her boys play ice hockey.

Kristine MacDonnell, MPT, CL

Physical Therapist

Kristine, a Minnesota native, received her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors from the University of Minnesota in 1992 and continued her education at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota, where she earned her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy in 1996. She has enjoyed 26+ years of treating mainly in outpatient physical therapy, helping a wide range of patients with orthopedic, post-surgical, and neurologic diagnoses. Her diverse clinical background ranges from neck and back care, joint replacements, and sports therapy to balance and falls prevention, stroke rehab, and LSVT for patients with Parkinson's Disease. Getting to know her patients and their goals-regardless of age or impairment-- allows Kris to set an individualized plan and utilize a combination of manual therapy, strengthening, and education to help them achieve their best life. When not treating patients, Kris enjoys cheering on her children, connecting with friends and family near and far, and reading a good book.

Leslie Kerr, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Leslie is a Berryville native who graduated from Clarke County High School in 2007. She received her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech in 2011 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2014. Leslie worked several years in a hospital based outpatient setting with some inpatient experience prior to joining the BPTW team in 2017. She practices as an orthopedic generalist, seeing a variety of diagnoses and a wide range of patient populations from teens to geriatrics. Her interests span from sports injury and post-operative care to balance and falls prevention. Leslie's approach to patient care begins with a thorough evaluation used to build a patient specific treatment plan. Her philosophy of care emphasizes utilizing patient education, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercise, among other things, while treating patients with compassion and respect to achieve functional improvement and patient satisfaction. Leslie lives in Berryville with her husband, Cody, and four children. She enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and watching her kids play sports.

Kristi Purma, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Kristi is a transplant to northern Virginia and is so happy to call this area home. A native Texan, she attended Texas A&M University for her Bachelor's degree, then received her Master's degree in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University in 2005. She spent the first 10 years of her practice working in with the underserved communities of Houston, Texas with adults with neurologic conditions. Her work focused on patients with spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, and brain injuries helping these clients maximize their functional independence. She developed and taught in a PT neurologic residency program for the Harris Health System in 2012, and also received her DPT from University of Texas Medical Branch that same year. Since moving to Virginia in 2015, she has been working in outpatient orthopedic and geriatric populations. She believes in treating the whole person and in the importance of listening and respecting each patient's unique needs. Her goal is to return patients to their prior level of functioning or better! She is a student of yoga and incorporates the principles of strength, flexibility, and breath work into her PT practice. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, yoga, and traveling the world with her husband and 2 daughters.

Amanda "Mandy" Ciaburri , PTA

Physical Therapist Assistant

Mandy has been a resident of Berryville for the last 20 years. She received her B.S.Ag. degree from WVU in 1992 and returned to school to get her A.A.S. degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from NOVA back in 1996. She has been married for 26 years and has 2 children. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, spending time with family and friends and exploring breweries and wineries.

Kimberly Rodriguez, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Kimberly is native to Boyce and graduated from Clarke County High School in 2003. She earned a bachelor's degree in Physical Health and Education/Sports Medicine and graduated with high honors in 2007 from the University of Virginia. She earned her doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2010 from Old Dominion University. She later returned to the area while her husband, a former U.S. Marine, served overseas. Her career focus has been in the outpatient setting and she considers herself to be an orthopedic generalist but she also has clinical experience with the neurological and pediatric populations. Her treatment techniques are multi-modal, with a combination of manual therapy, movement assessment, functional training, and promotion of health and wellness. Her background in personal training and passion for fitness inspires her philosophy of the importance of movement therapy and exercise in treatment. Kimberly currently lives in Winchester with her husband and 2 children. In her free time, she enjoys running, camping, reading, and spending time with her family.

Ashley L. Sanford PT, DPT, ACSM certified EP

Physical Therapist

Ashley is a Winchester native who graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor’s of Exercise Science/Pre-Professional degree in 2017 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Lynchburg in 2021. Ashley practices as an orthopedic generalist, seeing a variety of patients from pediatrics to geriatrics. She enjoys her time providing therapy to children in the Clarke County school system as well as running the Seniors exercise program and personal exercise classes for members of the community. Ashley provides thorough evaluations with the priority of helping patients create attainable goals for themselves and providing an attentive and listening ear throughout the whole process. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys hiking with her husband, Ben, cooking and baking, and adding to her colorful shoe collection.

Anna McCaul , PTA

Physical Therapist Assistant

Anna moved to Winchester in 2017 and promptly fell in love with Clarke County. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Economics from The Ohio State University in 2010, and after working in pharmaceutical marketing for several years decided to transition to a more patient-focused career. She completed her AAS and licensure exam to become a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in 2021 after attending Blue Ridge Community and Technical College in Martinsburg. Anna has experience in both outpatient and acute care settings and enjoys working with a wide range of patients. In her free time, Anna enjoys reading, horseback riding, yoga, and spending time with her dog, Cleo.

Abigail Fitzgerald

Lead Aide

Abbie is a Leesburg Va native who graduated from Heritage High School in 2019. She moved to Winchester after graduating from Liberty University with her Bachelors in Exercise Science in May of 2023. Soon after, she started working at Berryville Physical Therapy and Wellness as the lead aide. She will be pursuing her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2024. In her free time she enjoys hiking, spending time with her husband, reading a book, and looking after her four chickens.

Ann Finch

Front Desk Manager

Ann was born in Germany, then moved around while growing up as the daughter of an Army officer. In 1985 she settled into Clarke county to stay with her husband. They raised their two sons here and were involved with church activities, sports and other community events over the years. Ann has worked in a variety of administrative jobs over the years, was a substitute teacher for 14 years, and did furniture restoration. She joined Berryville Physical Therapy and Wellness in 2010 as part of our front desk team. Ann is the primary scheduler and is the first smiling face most patients see when they come to the clinic as she fills her role in Patient Services. She keeps busy outside the clinic with her church, family and friends and enjoys reading, cooking and taking walks.

Heather Hackworth

Patient Account Manager

Heather spent her early years in Cheyenne, Wyoming, then after a short time in Florida, moved with her family to North Pole, Alaska. She attended University of Alaska Fairbanks and was active at her church where she met and married her husband. Their two children were born in Alaska before the family moved to Virginia in 2000. Heather has been with Berryville Physical Therapy and Wellness since the beginning in 2008, filling a variety of roles on the front desk team before she ended up in her current role as Patient Account Manager. She keeps busy processing insurance claims and sorting out the information in her attempt to make paying your bills here as painless as possible! Although years of homeschooling are done since the children are grown and out of the house, she and her husband keep busy seeing family and friends and are involved with their church and community. When she finds time, she loves to read an enjoyable book and cook gluten free goodies.
